A lot of new breeders and owners have been asking me about coat's maintenance. I have never used white powder or any other colour to add them whiteness, but started from the very baseline - their food, comestics and overall psychophysical condition.
When in comes to their FOOD... First rule is very high quality food, food without preserves, food shouldn't be high processed and absolutely no carotene. Carotene is natural colour and will eventually kick out and discolour their coat, leaving yellow and/or orange tones. Add goat milk, fresh eggs, honey, yogurt etc. to their everyday food. But carotene is a no, no.
Taking about their COSMETIC CARE we should use brightening shampoo and be careful with conditioners and masks. I've been using a few of them for years and I'm not planing on changing our routine. My absolutely favourite shampoos are Double K Midnight White, Show Tech+ Deep Clean 40 and Animology for white coat. Those shampoos should be mixed well with water, thoroughly shampooed and well rinsed. Then I apply conditioner, I personally love Show Tech Romance, since it works wonders on them.
There is also one small hack, especially for brown spots and discoloured areas - I use sodium bicarbonate, water and clean toothbrush. I mix bicarbonate with water until I get paste and then brush with toothbrush affected areas. Let it dry, rinse off and voila! This hack is only when we really want to work on a small patch and it's not suitable for large areas, since sodium carbonate is quite effective. For paw cleaning right before the show, I always use Show Tech Quick Fix Spray and Show Tech White Magic Cover Spray, especially if we are walking on the wet grass before ring.
